Stanwood was settled in 1866 as a trading post on the "flats" at the mouth of the Stillaguamish River, Stanwood is a small community of Scandinavian heritage. The Pearson House Museum houses many of the area's artifacts and is worth a stop.

Visitors will also want to check out the famous Scandinavian Bakery and lefse factory as they explore Stanwood's specialty shops and restaurants.
The Stanwood-Camano Fair, held the 1st week of August, is an attraction that draws fun-seekers from miles around. Stop to explore nearby beautiful Camano Island State Park, a popular place for boaters, campers, and beachcombers.
On your way to or back from Stanwood - especially during spring and summer - you'll want to follow Hwy 530 (Pioneer Highway) to swing through tiny Silvana where you can grab a bite to eat and check out the antiques.
