Named after the largest lake in the county (1,000 acres and 8 miles of shoreline), Lake Stevens is east of Everett. The lake has both public and private shore lands, with sandy public beaches and public boat launches. Canoes, jet skis, airplanes, sailboats, surfboards, rowboats, windsurfers and activities like horseback riding, sunbathing, and fishing can all be enjoyed at Lake Stevens.
Believed to be named after Governor Isaac I. Stevens, Lake Stevens was first settled in 1886 on a 160-acre homestead along the east shore. By 1890 the first town in the area, "Ferry", was established. Its name was later changed to "Hartford" and it served as the main link from the famed Monte Cristo timber and mining resources to the world.
The 7.5 miles of the Centennial trail stretches from Snohomish to Lake Stevens and up to  Arlington and is frequented by walkers, runners and non motorized bikes. And for equestrian riders there is a separate path for your horse back riding enjoyment. You will also occasionally see dear along the trail. Centennial Woods is a 6.5 acre nature park located adjacent to the Centennial Trail. Trails lead around wetlands and cedar, hemlock, mapel trees.
You won't want to miss Aquafest, the biggest event of the year, held the last weekend of July.
